Pino the “Underdog”

What a cutie!
Jonas (our deceased dog) gave birth almost four years ago to her second litter composed of four puppies, two females and two males. My mom gave us permission to keep a male puppy. Several weeks after I saw one who was growing beautifully: hes’s huggable, adorable, almost like a teddy bear everyone loves. I named him Teddy—yet a relative who lives next door adopted him.

With four puppies to choose from my sister picked a black puppy that she perceived to become furry later on. She has high hope while I have doubt. I thought the puppy is not the ideal one to adopt, an underdog I must say. Frustrated with her decision, I teased her about choosing a rodent and even encourage her to pick a less-looking-rodent puppy even if it’s a female.

But no matter what unpleasant remark or mocking the little one gets—she was determined to keep him at all costs. The lucky fellow found a friend, a saver, through my sister.

New Year With a Bang(s)

New Year, New look. Because Pino’s sight is a bit  blocked by his long hair that he occasionally bumps into things, so her mom (my sister) grabbed his tool and gave him a haircut.

Time to say goodbye to long hair!

Aspin Einstein!

a sitting asong pinoy
Looking gentle and wise.

Looks like Teddy needs some combing with the brush beside him. Nonetheless he’s eager to explain the Theory of Cuteness:

E = m(c x c)

Elationmeeting a cute and cuddly dog like Teddy

It’s that simple. Anyway, do you agree with his formula or will you insist in having his coat be combed?

IC the “Snow White”

The fairy tale of Snow White is filled with challenges and happiness, so is the life of IC, the matriarch of the woof family. Who would have forgotten the happy ending of the story? Will IC, the Snow White of our household, found her prince charming and live happily ever after?

The Unexpected Guest

If I’m one of the seven dwarfs, my name would be “Sleepy” yet I was just as startled as any of the dwarfs when the unexpected guest arrived in our home—a small white puppy peeping from inside the plastic bag carried by my uncle. The puppy is now known as IC whose mother was born in our house and was later adopted by my uncle, who is a seafarer.

So IC was born and grew up not in a castle but in a barge that guides the immense ship docking in the pier. My uncle told us that she loves to go swimming, a hobby she can’t pursue. Because they are no longer allowed to keep dogs, my uncle decided to give her to us—rather to me. (Wondering why? So do I.)

It happened almost three years ago in the month of January, the time of the year we celebrate IC’s birthday since my uncle can’t recall how old is she when she left the barge and embarked on the journey to land.

2011: the First New Year of the “Chies”

At the age of seven months old Buchie and Chuchie welcomed 2011 on the last Friday evening and had spent Christmas in our household with their family. It’s just sad that Chuckie wasn’t there to celebrate with us; 2011 supposed to be his second New Year—but that was the only tear-inducing part of the celebration—the rest is all about fun, fun, fun.

Early that day, the Aspin family for the first time took a bath one after the other. Usually my sister and I divide them into two groups: first is scheduled for a certain day, second the following day. Later I bragged to my parents that they are all looking and smelling good, enough for them to stay inside the house as 2011 is about to come.
