Intruder (or Guest) at Night

These past few days, I’m becoming a night owl. What keeps me up late at night is common nowadays—surfing the net and blogging. But there is something extraordinary event—which is not so extraordinary for us—but because of my late night habit I baffled and amazed by the erratic habit of someone dear to our family.

Someone or something makes a sound as it goes up the stairs in wee hours.
The sound is not that loud still I can hear it while I’m tapping on the computer keyboard. I didn’t bother myself to have a look then a voice disturbed the stillness of night (or the onset of day)—my mom exclaimed, “Pino!” The intruder turns out to be an occasional guest in my mom’s room. Pino, Chuchie’s dad, has developed the habit of sleeping in my mom’s room whenever he wants to, depending on his mood or weather. (If it is hot downstairs because the fan is off, he will go up and my mom will turn on the fan when he arrives.)

My sister and I taught him to go up the stairs. Since then, whenever no one is downstairs he goes up to visit us in our room; as long as the door is open, he invites himself in.  At night, he can’t go into our room because it is locked—and my mom’s room is his only destination because it’s open as opposed at daytime.

So how did the intrusion started?
He used to sleep on our room, but he was vetoed as roommate because of his habit of waking me up. (She can’t reach my sister who sleeps on top of our bunk bed, quite lucky indeed.) Whether we are dreaming, snoring, or still trying to catch a wink, he will wake us up because of varied reasons: he wants to go out, get someone’s attention—or a reasonable one—we’re still stuck in our bed when the sun set already. He’s the best alarm clock we ever had. It’s not like I can turn him off and put him aside—he wouldn’t stop until he chaperones me or my mom down the stairs. (Wouldn’t you get on your feet if someone like Pino wouldn’t stop kissing you and pressing on you with his heavy feet?)

My mom gets used to the intrusion. In fact, she misses her guest if it takes too long for him to pay a visit—even at night. As to when he’ll be in the next room before I hit the bed is still unknown, but I’ll surely know when he does. In fact as I'm publishing this post right now he just got in. Have a nice dream Pino.

Sounds like Pino is a very smart cat. He knows where to go to get some attention. Too funny.

Thanks for the visit. By the way we also have cats and kittens.
